Welcome to Oak Park Lost Pets. The goal here is to bring together lost animals, found animals and their original owners.

Starting New

Received a message asking to remove an old 2005 listing and it got me thinking that I should probably just wipe the tables and let them go again, if you had a recent lost or found, please re-enter. Any questions, drop me a line at hmarquardt at gmail dot com

Update News! Update News!

Honestly, there really isn't much going on:( Things have been kinda slow here and unfortunately I believe it's because we (the site) and the cause (lost animals) are no longer hot buttons in the Village -- anyway, I'm taking down the bulletin board, no one posted in the 6 months it was up, and I've moved the site to a new server, consolidating some of the hardware I have laying around in favor a having just a few boxes doing lots of things rather than the myriad computers each running something or some site. So the site is still here and still active from an administration perspective but we seem to be want for users;(

Bulletin Board / Forum Active!!!

Even though there is little there yet from a content perspective, I've activated the Lost Pets Forum.

In relatively short order, there should be adoption requirements (even forms) available, as well as, a frequently asked questions (FAQ) section. But the thing I'd like to see used most is the public forum, where you can ask questions and/or just exchange information on animal issues. The plan is to have folks from the Village and other Agencies respond where appropriate.

Enjoy!

Village of Forest Park Animal Services

... is looking for *Adult* volunteers. Please contact them directly at (708) 366-8156 if you're interested.

Thanks!

Village Newsletter - FYI

I understand that the current (June) issue of FYI is in some of your mailboxes ... and maybe that's how you found the site; if so

Welcome:)

While the Village began posting under 'found animals' about 10 days ago, there are still parts of the site being developed -- there will soon be a section for Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) and a bulletin board for you to ask your questions directly of the agencies involved.

Stay tuned and thanks for stopping by.

VOP Animal Control Postings

Pretty exciting ... the Village of Oak Park has begun posting it's recovered animals. The first few are up right now -- it's a bittersweet thing to have a lot of Village postings though -- it's nice to see they are trying to reunite locally, yet it shows that there are a lot of strays that get picked up. Take a peek through and see if you find a familiar face/description.

Pet Services

Taking advantage of it being Pet Appreciation Week - I poached the listings in the Wednesday Journal's advertising supplement to add a Pet Services section on the right hand menu -- mostly dog-walker/housesitters, but it's handy to have around nonetheless.

DigOP Forum Added

I added a "Lost Pet" forum to the DigOP main site -- there is a link off to the right here. I figured there might me need for chat space on the topic -- it would also be a good place to post ideas and comments on the site for enhancements and whatnot.

Links and such ...

Hmm, I did a quick search for local animal related sites and came up mostly empty -- I couldn't find a Vet with a website for instance; if you have a suggestion to put in the righthand column, let me know. Also if you run an animal related business and think a little ad space might serve you well, drop me a line.

A Work In Progress ....

Welcome to lostpets.digitaloakpark.com!!!

The mission here is simple, while a couple services like this operate nationally, they charge for the service and have very litte usage relative to the number of pets that are lost at any given point in time.

I hope to fix that for our little geography --

Anyone can list here free of charge -- lost pets, found pets. I hope that we can get cooperation with the local pounds/shelters too, either directly or though some volunteer mechanism.

This is kind of getting built as we go, at this point everything you see works -- I've got a few ideas for enhancements, but I'd like to hear from you as well. If you have an idea or comment, please drop me a line -- Hank Marquardt

Thanks! And good luck finding your pet.
